Sizing should be simple. You do not need special tools, just a few household items. Use whichever method works best for you, then match your measurement to the chart.

Method 1: The string or paper test

What you will need

  • A strip of paper, string, or floss
  • A pen
  • A ruler, millimeters are best

Steps

  1. Wrap the paper or string around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark the point where the ends overlap.
  3. Lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters.
  4. Compare the number to the circumference column in the chart below.

Method 2: Measure a ring you already own

  • A ring that fits comfortably

Steps

  1. Place your ring on a flat surface.
  2. Measure the inside diameter straight across in millimeters.

Sizing tips

  • Evening is best. Fingers are slightly larger at the end of the day, so measure then for accuracy.
  • Think about width. Wider bands fit tighter, so size up by half a size for anything over 4mm wide.
  • Knuckle versus base. If your knuckle is bigger, measure both and choose a size in between.
  • When in doubt, size up. It is easier to adjust a ring that is a little loose than one that is too tight.

How a ring should fit

The right fit slides over your knuckle with a little resistance and rests snugly without pinching. You should be able to take it off without a struggle, but it should not slip off on its own.

Bracelets

Measure your bracelet size at home

All you need is a string, a strip of paper, or a measuring tape. Follow these steps for a perfect fit, whether you prefer snug and sleek or relaxed and comfortable.

Step 1: Measure your wrist

  • Wrap a measuring tape, string, or paper strip snugly around your wrist where you would normally wear a bracelet.
  • If using string or paper, mark where the ends overlap, then measure the length against a ruler.
  • Record the measurement in inches or centimeters.
Measure your wrist where a bracelet would rest

Step 2: Decide your fit

  • Snug fit: add 0.25 to 0.5 inch (0.5 to 1.2 cm).
  • Comfort fit: add 0.75 to 1 inch (2 to 2.5 cm).
  • Loose fit: add about 1.25 inch (3+ cm) for extra movement.

Step 3: Match to the bracelet size chart

Wrist size (inches)Wrist size (cm)Recommended bracelet size
5.5 to 6.014 to 15.26.5" / 16.5 cm
6.0 to 6.515.2 to 16.57.0" / 17.8 cm
6.5 to 7.016.5 to 17.87.5" / 19.0 cm

Sizing tips

  • Measure at the end of the day when your wrist is naturally largest.
  • Chunkier bracelets often feel tighter, so sizing up slightly is best.
  • If you are between sizes, choose the larger one for comfort.

Chains

Choose the right chain length

The length of a necklace changes its entire look. Use this guide to see where common lengths fall and how to measure at home.

Step 1: See it on

How chains of different lengths look on real people.

Women: 16", 18", 20", 22"

Chain lengths on a woman

Men: 20", 22", 24"

Chain lengths on a man

Step 2: Measure at home

  • No jeweler's tools needed.
  • Wrap a string around your neck where you would like your chain to rest.
  • Mark where the ends meet, then measure the length against a ruler.
  • Pick the closest standard size.

Step 3: Quick fit advice

  • For women: 18" is our most popular everyday length.
  • For men: 20" is the most popular choice.
  • For layering: choose a mix of 2 to 3 lengths that sit at different levels.
